The Hotel at Avalon
Located in the heart of Alpharetta, Georgia lies a place that seems magical and is aptly named Avalon. Overlooking the beautiful main street is The Hotel at Avalon, a 330-room luxury hotel, a property in the Autograph Collection by Marriott. It’s unpretentious luxury at its finest.
The Hotel at Avalon, inspired by the mythical land of Avalon where the “Good Life” prevails, redefines the art of living well with lifestyle amenities, including a rooftop pool, a fitness center, and valet services. Hotel guests experience modern Southern hospitality in a luxurious, walkable community featuring shopping perks, sought-after dining like South City Kitchen, upscale lodging, and premier event spaces at the Alpharetta Conference Center.
A Tour of The Hotel at Avalon
As guests enter The Hotel, they are welcomed by living walls and a “porch” swing on each side of the entrance. Above them, the ceiling is painted a light shade of blue, a nod to the southern tradition of protecting buildings from haints (restless spirits).
Once inside, guests experience the warmth and comfort of the lobby on the left which has a modern-retro feel and an actual wood-burning fireplace. It’s a great spot for meeting old and new friends.
On the right side is the bar decorated in rich, warm wood tones.
As guests depart the elevator, there is a unique elegant mural on each floor that welcomes them.
There are five different types of rooms at The Hotel: standard guest rooms, deluxe guest rooms, executive king rooms, hospitality suites, and the presidential suite. Most rooms are decorated in a palette of grey, cream, and buttery yellow, with creatively curated artwork and contemporary decor.
Guest Rooms
The Hotel at Avalon provides robes in each guest room, so guests won’t need to pack one in their suitcases. (This means that there is more room in their suitcase to bring back some shopping treasures.)
The in-room refrigerator is cleverly disguised in a cute little chest.
Guests won’t find small sample-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner – instead, they have the use of full-size bottles that are installed in the shower.
An artful touch to the water closet is the bookcase wallpaper.
Where’s The Coffee? The rooms at The Hotel do not have the standard in-room coffeemakers. Guests who would like a cup have three options:
- Visit the full-service Starbucks on the ground floor of the hotel,
- Enjoy a cup of complimentary coffee from the coffee bar that is located on the ground floor by the elevators, or
- Request to have a Keurig placed in the room.
Around The Hotel at Avalon
Guests of the hotel have access to the pool and outdoor area on the second floor with their room key. The rooftop pool has plenty of lounge chairs and a few cabanas, as well as a few in-pool lounge chairs that are perfect for soaking up the Georgia sunshine.
Also located on the second floor, the fitness center has treadmills, exercise bikes, and weights for guest use.
There are also plenty of towels in the hotel gym for those who tend to work up quite a sweat.
The Conference Center
The Alpharetta Conference Center at The Hotel at Avalon offers 44,000 square feet of flexible event space. It’s the ideal venue for conferences, weddings, proms, meetings, and trade shows – you name it!

On-site dining can be enjoyed at South City Kitchen on the lower level of the hotel. The restaurant serves sophisticated contemporary Southern cuisine in a casual environment.
The portions are generous and the food is served with genuine Southern hospitality.

I was a guest of Awesome Alpharetta. All thoughts, opinions, and grammatical errors are my own. The pictures are also mine, but the delicious food was made in Alpharetta.
