The Hotel at Avalon

Last Updated: Sep 9, 2022 · 2 Comments

Located in the heart of Alpharetta, Georgia lies a place that seems magical and is aptly named Avalon.  Overlooking the beautiful main street is The Hotel at Avalon, a 330-room luxury hotel, a property in the Autograph Collection by Marriott.  It's unpretentious luxury at its finest.

A Tour of The Hotel at Avalon

As guests enter The Hotel, they are welcomed by living walls and a "porch" swings on each side of the entrance.  Above them, the ceiling is painted a light shade of blue,  a nod to the southern tradition of protecting buildings from haints (restless spirits).

Once inside, guests experience the warmth and comfort of the lobby on the left which has a modern-retro feel and an actual wood-burning fireplace.  It's a great spot for meeting old and new friends.

On the right side is the bar decorated in rich, warm wood tones.

As guests depart the elevator, there is a unique elegant mural on each floor that welcomes them.

There are five different types of rooms at The Hotel:  standard guest rooms, deluxe guest rooms, executive king rooms, hospitality suites, and the presidential suite.  Most rooms are decorated in a palette of grey, cream, and buttery yellow, with creatively curated artwork and contemporary decor.

The Hotel at Avalon provides robes in each guest room, so guests won't need to pack one in their suitcase.  (Which means that there is more room in their suitcase to bring back some shopping treasures.)

The in-room refrigerator is cleverly disguised in a cute little chest.

Guests won't find small little sample-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner - instead, they have use of full-size bottles that are installed in the shower.

An artful touch to the water closet is the bookcase wallpaper.

Where's The Coffee?  The rooms at The Hotel do not have the standard in-room coffeemakers.  Guests who would like a cup have three options:

  1. Visit the full-service Starbucks on the ground floor of the hotel,
  2. Enjoy a cup of complimentary coffee from the coffee bar that is located on the ground floor by the elevators, or
  3. Request to have a Keurig placed in the room.

Around The Hotel at Avalon

Guests have access to the pool and outdoor area on the second floor with their room key.  The pool has plenty of lounge chairs and a few cabanas, as well as a few in-pool lounge chairs that are perfect for soaking up the Georgia sunshine.

Also located on the second floor, the fitness center has treadmills, exercise bikes, and weights for guest use.

Avalon

Avalon is more than just Alpharetta's premier shopping destination. It's an 86-acre development with apartments, businesses, restaurants, a 12-screen premium theater, and luxury rental homes intermingled among the shops and restaurants.

Whimsical elements guests will find around Avalon are squirrel sculptures.

There are a dozen squirrels at Avalon, and children of all ages can embark on a scavenger hunt to find them all.

Avalon is a dog-friendly community, with many merchants placing bowls of water out for furry friends of all sizes.

The open container option makes it nice for enjoying the free activities that place, such as Avalon Nights Live which take place on Friday nights from 6 pm until 8 pm (April - October).  It's a good idea to get there early in order to get a good seat!

There are over 2 dozen restaurants around Avalon, ranging from quick bites to upscale eateries and everything in between.

Cafe Intermezzo embodies the essence of a 300-year-old European coffeehouse.

There's really no need to ever leave Avalon because there is also a Whole Foods Market on the property.

I was a guest of Awesome Alpharetta. All thoughts, opinions, and grammatical errors are my own.  The pictures are also mine, but the delicious food was made in Alpharetta.  If you are going to be in Alpharetta in early May, be sure to read my posts about The Taste of Alpharetta and What To Do In Alpharetta: A Mini Guide.
